CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Ron Sanchez, UVA basketball’s interim head mentor, is out as the program’s total-time leader.
In line with a UVA Athletics news release, Athletics Director Carla Williams declared the decision Wednesday, March 12.
“I'm grateful to Coach Sanchez duke basketball, for accepting this purpose during this type of critical time for the program,” Williams stated, according to the news release. “Ron plus the staff offered excellent balance, direction and help to the younger Guys about the team and we're grateful for his dedication to UVA and also the values which can be foundational to Virginia Guys’s basketball.”
Sanchez was named Virginia’s interim head mentor in Oct when Tony Bennett surprisingly retired a few months before the year started off.
Virginia concluded this period having a document of fifteen-seventeen.
Sanchez has been a Component of UVA’s basketball application for eleven seasons, ten as an assistant to Bennett.
